  • Thank you for posting Arturo Toscanini as a conductor of Rossini Overtures such as The Barber of Seville and La Gaza Ladra.

I can still recall when I was in my babyhood and when my mother put me in my crib for my daytime nap, she would play Rossini's Overtures as conducted by Arturo Toscanini. Before I would drift off to sleep, this music fired up my youthful imagination. Thank you for the most pleasant memories of my youth so far away in the fabric of time and space.

  • As always, when I hear Toscanini conduct a familiar piece of music (and this is a very familiar one!), I come away saying to myself, "So that's the way that music is supposed to go!" What a great musical genius he was. Thank you for sharing this.

  • This does not sound like Toscanini. However dumb I may look, that I'm saying something contrary to the narrated portion, it just Does NOT sound like il Maestro.
