Babies are starting to really want to eat real food! The oldest is 5 weeks, and they have graduated to a small cage.

  • i have 3 new parrotlets babies 4-5 weeks eating Emeril's 5 Grains, soon i will put them on ebay for rehoming. my other parakeets and cockatiel babies are also eating the Emeril's 5 Grains. The five grains are brown jasmati rice, basmati, or brown jasmine, next is millet, not the seeds, then there is cooked amaranth, and next is quinoa, and last is black wild rice. All cook in a rice cooker, mix with chopped vegetables (different weekly). Try to get off the seed diet and U will see a difference

  • @gordonleongyow thanks for the tips, i wil try the veggies/rice in cooker!

  • That is soo sweet! Could you give me a recipe for that dish? :)

I am torn between getting a Parrotlet (green), a Green-Cheek Conure (pineapple), or an Indian Ringneck Parrot. I just want the friendliest, preferably quietest option.

  • @JaredMartinez02 I think I just put some broccoli, orange or carrot, grapes or cucumber & germinated seeds in there (or substitute germinated for sprouted seeds).

hm...out of those 3 u mentioned, parrotlets are probably the quietest. Conures are the most friendly & cuddly. Ringecks the funniest. It's really how much time u think you'll want to spend with one, I think.

The name "parakeet" is actually a term, not a name, that can be used for one of any large number of unrelated species of small parrot. Parrot-'let' is the name of the birds in this video. Their name loosely means miniature parrot. Parrotlets are a type of parakeet. The common pet parakeet that you're thinking of, it's real species name is actually "budgerigar", or "budgie" for short. But both parrotlets and budgies are a type of parrot.

Fun fact for the day. :D

  • they do not look like parrots! lol more like parakeets.
