Check out Tai chi master Fu Wing Fei: Applications. He is one of my favorites. No guess work here...This could be, or, I think of this as... He is teaching from a genuine lineage. It is one of the few tai ji clips I have seen where a mat is used. Another thing is, that America, although possessing a few tai chi gems (in terms of instructors) for the most part is one of the worst places to learn authentic tai chi. 98% paper tigers. The real thing does exist. It's worth the search.

This is some of the worst tai chi that I have ever seen. The worst part is that this guy is teaching others to do tai chi the way he does it. My advice to you, Michael, is to stop teaching and continue learning from a better teacher than the one who taught you that nonsense. Your body is disconnected and your posture is totally out of wack. The applications you show here are the worst. That nonsense is going to get somebody knocked out if they ever try it in a real situation.

Respectfully as karateka I cannot see a realistic use for the single whip technique. I was hoping to find the answer here but unfortunately i saw some floors in the techniques you showed.
Appologies my friend, I'll have to keep looking
