Are you using a addative on this maize/corn? We have been using pionner 11a44 silage inoculant on our maize in the UK. Through using this addative the face of the pit stays in perfect condition for weeks, if kept dry.

what size of power plant is running that brute of a machine? It must use some fuel in a day.
daviethetrucker 3 years ago
dang skippy it burns some fuel. On an average day it burns up 62 gallons. It's a CAT 3408 505 hp 6 cylinder mounted on its own trailer. The fuel tank for it sits underneath it on the trailer frame.

I guess that it is just the seed and not the whole corn plant like silage

technically it's called a kernals, but yes you are correct. And yes it is packed like silage. Its high moisture corn, meaning it has a moisture reading of 24-32 percent, this helps it to ferment.
