I arrived at the open space on my motorbike to make balloons prior to the 2009 Traverse City Film Festival free movie "Hair" showing at dusk. Just as i began to get my display ready, the inflatable movie screen in the background began to rise. I recorded the last bit of it with my Kodak Zi6 HD camera. Due to it's size and the uncertain wind conditions on the bayshore, it is inflated only before use. Quite a large screeen, as you can see. There was an impressive sound system to go with it. .
It wasn't long before the entire area was filled with people.
Look to the right of the movie screen about 50 feet or so and there's a sound stage under the white canopy. Musical entertainment was great. Country Joe McDonald of 'Country Joe and the Fish', and 'Wavy Gravy; both of Woodstock fame were in town this week and gave opening performances for the showing of the director's cut of Woodstock (a 4 hour film). I was lucky to get a ticket to see that. Both of them were also here on stage at the open space this evening. Country Joe performed the 'Fish Cheer' and the 'Feel Like I'm Fixin To Die Rag'. He put the same energy into it and sounded as good as he did 40 years ago at Woodstock. It was an awesome treat.
