  • The future of Facebook can be Amazing! It can be a make or break depending on how Facebook programmers can keep up with the "appreciation" of the internet users for it. The thing is, people use Facebook since for them it is effective. And they use it provided it is effective for them. I want to see Facebook use a pre-paid payment scheme like gamecards that are easy for users to use. They buy the card. They input some numbers(card) on the Facebook interface and presto! They are ready to PAY!

  • @alvisbrigis my concern is that facebook is not a young startup anymore. I don't think they do stuff "because-they-can" anymore, like, perhaps, google in their beginnings. I think, right now, the question for them is: How to make profit?

Honestly, I don't see Facebook having a vision (anymore) of people realising great peer-to-peer relationships.

  • @dpowerfool - but how likely is it that FB can run some major currency experiments in little markets, see how they do, then potentially bridge the gap to larger more established systems?

  • I think Facebook will stick to being mainstream. It won't care about users creating value themselves, sharing etc. I think FB will become more commercialized, it will stay close to the big corporate interests and won't clash with the current economic system.

  • Sean is the man! Sean has big vision.

  • Why didn't I figure that Sean Park would have a hand in this series? Or did I just forget? :)

Nice first bite of this topic … pleased to see that it is non-judgmental. In reality, the same points can be equally applied to any significant social network. Google+ may be in an even better (?) place for this - it already has an eCommerce facility to leverage.
