WithoutYou. [56.] 'the pretender.'

sorry it took some time again but I met the Jonas Brothers :) and ive been freaking out ever since.

-Indie's POV.

I had to get my mind away from things.. away from Joe, away from Nick. I got ready three hours too early. Everyone was still in my apartment, I had no clue what they were doing, but I trusted them. They were my best friends. Even though one was missing.
When I walked into the living room in my leather-belted, floral, summery dress, Nick smiled. Everyone was sitting on the floor for some reason, so I joined them. Turned out they were playing snap. Yes, snap. A bunch of rockstars playing snap. Nick scooted over, making a space for me.
'You can be on my team.' he smiled.
I have to say.. as much as this was a game for 5 year olds, we were all really getting into it. We were even arguing! When Kevin and Demi were arguing about who said snap first, Nick whispered to me.
'Do you have to go out later?' he said.
'You know I do. It would be rude of me not to.' I said.
'I know. Do you want me to take you there?' he asked.
'I think David's picking me up, but thank you anyway.' I smiled.
As if by magic, there was a knock on the door. Demi ran up and answered it to see David looking as sharp as ever. :)
'You ready to go?' he asked.
'Sure; I'll just grab my purse.' I smiled.
I walked off to get my purse as I went to my room, Nick pulled my arm and whispered in my ear.
'If you want to leave; I'll come and get you. Just say the word.' he said.
I hugged him, 'Thanks.'
I got back to the door and David held his arm out. I slipped mine through his and we walked out of my apartment.
'Uh, Indie, if that's your apartment, why did you leave all your friends in there?' he chuckled.
'Oh, good point. But it's okay. They paid for the place.' I smiled.
Then I thought of the apartment, and its purpose. To be closer to Joe. I tried not to let it get me down. But I couldn't help letting a small tear trickle, unoticed by David.
Instead of going to Koi as he had said earlier; we went to a simple little piano bar with dim lights and soft, romantic music being played live.

-Joe's POV.

Camilla was going on about her new movie role she'd only told me about a million times as we sat in the Piano bar. She was a lovely girl; just not as lovely as Indie.
Indie. She was moving, but I just couldn't. Sure I was with Camilla, but things were nowhere near as exciting. I was miserable and I think she realised that.
'Joe; are you okay?' she asked. 'You seem a little down.'
'Sure, whatever. Can we just have dessert then go.' I moaned.
'Course.' she smiled.
I felt bad for hurting her, that wasn't my aim. But, she was almost a pain reliever to me, something to occupy myself with insted of thinking of her all the time.
I took my sunglasses off to take a better look at the dessert menu. I bet you're wondering why I was wearing sunglasses in this dimly lit restaurant. Well, paparazzi; thats why. I had a baseball cap on too and Camilla had big round sunglasses on too. It made me think of my first date with Indie, when I was still wearing sunglasses because of my hidden identity.
'What are you smiling at?' Camilla asked.
'Oh, nothing.' I looked down.
And then she just had to walk in, her arm linked through David's. I was so glad she didn't notice us; it would have beeen too painful. It was hard watching her have a good time with another guy. She was laughing, smiling and he was making her blush. Once they had finshed their meal, not that I was staring or anything, David stood up and bowed. What an idiot. Then I realised he was asking her to dance. I saw her say yes and she took his outstretched hand. That killed me, watching her as she wrapped her arms around his neck and laid her head on his chest as they swayed to the music.

-Indie's POV.

David was so sweet. When he asked me to dance; I couldn't say no. I didn't feel complete.
I was so glad David couldn't read minds; because he would've known that I was pretending that he was Joe.
