Bring Me Home for Christmas {14}

Demi's POV.

1 year & 11 months later.

"Are you sure this is what you wanna do?" My mom stood back to look at me, a tissue in her hands.
I was standing next to Joe and Hailey in front of the airports entrance. We were bundled up in jackets and scarves and anything that would keep us warm from the New York cold weather.
I look at my mom and sigh, smiling. "Yes, I already told you. I love Joe, mom."
"I know you do, honey. He's a nice boy. But are you sure you wanna move to California with him? Go to a new university again? Start from the beginning?"
"Mom. I can't stand being away from Joe. Joe is homesick and misses his brothers. I want him to be happy, and plus, I wanna be on my own. I can prove to you and dad that I can be responsible."
"We already know how responsible you are, honey." She sighs and dabs at her eyes again. "You're really growing up then, huh?" She leans in to give me another tight hug. "Come and visit as much as you can." I nod at her. She turns away from me and faces Joe. When I first told her of Joe and Hailey, she was a bit uncomfortable with us. He had a child at a young age, what else would you think? But when they met, my parents had agreed to give Joe a chance after seeing how happy I was when I was with him. After a few dinners, my parents and Joe got along and it made me really happy. My mom understood Joe's story and treated Joe like a son. She also loved Hailey. She would babysit her whenever Joe and I wanted to go out on dates alone.
Right now, after being inseparable these past months, it was that time of the year again. 1 week before Christmas. Since Joe still couldn't find a stable job here in New York and still struggled, not as much as before but he still had trouble with money, he has decided to move to California where his brothers were. He also had asked me to move with him. After putting a lot of thought in it, I agreed. I would go to UCLA and finish my degree there. I really loved Joe and Hailey. They were my life.
"And you, young man, take care of my daughter," mom tells Joe. Joe smiles, nodding.
"Of course, don't worry about us. You and Eddie can come and visit us any time you want," he offers.
"Of course. Well you two don't wanna be late for your plane." she looks over at the entrance and then turns to me again.
"I love you, baby," she says and gives me one more hug. "Dad is sorry he couldn't be here to say goodbye-- extra time at work," she explains, shrugging.
I nod. "Give him and Maddie a kiss for me."
"Sure thing."
With that, Joe and I pick up our bags and Joe holds Hailey in his arms. We were soon on that plane, ready to start a whole new life together in a whole new place.

We landed in L.A near midnight. When we finally arrive at the house, I was simply amazed. This house was huge. Joe showed me our room, which was on the second floor. It was big; with a king-sized bed and a big closet and a bathroom included. Joe carried Hailey in, who was already fast asleep and put her in her new bed. Yep, she even had her own bed. His brothers and their wives had already set up our room. Hailey's sheets were pink and purple and her side of the room was princess themed. I pull my luggage onto the bed and fish some of my sleeping clothes out.
"You tired?" Joe asks me, coming around me and slipping his arms around me.
"Yeah, I just wanna lay in bed all day tomorrow," I tell him.
"Well since everyone's gonna be out tomorrow, we have the house all to ourselves tomorrow," he informs me, leaning down to kiss my neck.
I giggle and push him away. "Someone can walk in any time," I warn.
"So? They're happy if I'm happy. And whenever I kiss you.. or any part of you.. I'm really happy," he smirks and holds onto me, kissing my neck again.
I gently push him away and go over to at least close the door. Then, Joe goes back to kissing me again.
Joe and I have been getting closer and closer with every day that passes. He makes me happy. He spends the holidays with me and my family, he goes shopping with me and my friends, he was with me when I graduated, he takes me out on dates. I was glad that I met him.
I slip into bed after I've changed into my pajamas and Joe slips under the sheets next to me. He wraps his arms around me and holds me.
"I'm so glad that you agreed to come with me. I dont know what I'd do without you," he whispers against my ear, sending chills up my spine.
I smile even though he couldnt see my face. "Camilla doesnt know what she's missing," I tell him.
"Speaking of Camilla.. she called me a few days ago."
"What did she want?" I ask, becoming a bit tense.
"She wanted to see me and Hailey again.. she wanted to get back together," he softly says, hesitating a bit. I frown. "But I told her that she screwed up when we were together and she had her chance. I also told her that I've found someone ten times better who I love very much. Do you know who that is?" He nuzzles my neck. "You, baby."
