Rebecca playing "Alligator Crawl" at JFK school GCSE summer concert 2010
Currently a piece from her grade 8 syllabus. Although not technically perfect, it is played with enthusiasm and energy thus making it an enjoyable performance to watch

  • I wish I was allowed to play stuff like this for my grade 8 syllabus instead of just classical. Although it is just as hard to master at least it's more fun to listen to, as is your perfomance. The last comment is so true for this and all Fats Waller pieces when he/she said it's easier without having to look at the music, as I am constantly watching my left hand.

Well done though and keep doing Fats Waller stuff. I'm so into that.

  • @Grretschman Thank you . Yes, it is much more fun and interesting playing this piece, i get so bored of having all the same repertoire. Definitely will carry on with Fats Waller by memory :)

  • Thank you for your advice, I appreciate it, I nearly know it from memory, will work on memorising it fully so that the jumps beccome easier! Fats Waller's performances were definitely much more exciting and interesting, so I will take a look at the transcription by Paul Posnack

  • Well done Rebecca for tackling such a tricky piece of music. Just a thought, however: these syncopated piano pieces are MUCH easier to play if you memorise them, so that you can look at the keyboard rather than the music. Otherwise, the left hand jumps and tenths can be quite a challenge! Have a listen also to 'Fats' Waller playing this piece, as the sheet music doesn't quite replicate Waller's performance. There's a very realistic transcription by Paul Posnak of that and other Waller tunes.

  • WOW! Your performance is so enjoyable to watch! You have a real talent there!

Would like to see more! Carry on uploading the videos
