This is a cultural thing. the word stalking has such a negative connotation in english. we don't use this word, we don't have this word in Chinese. We consider this action a very sweet thing in China. but in the US, we would get a restraining order on that person.

that's because that's not stalking and all of the stalking is very exagerated and limits a lot of people to a point that they can no longer love anyone at all just because they are afraid. That's why western countries are not all sunshine and rainbows. Many people have never felt love in their entire life. Even a slightest of hopes that come to their lives mess so hard with their mind that they go to extremes to try and hold on to it. It does happen all the time.

@dhom100 I'm just trying to compare the cultural differences between the east and the west. Even if the person is not hurt nor killed, the act of "stalking" has such a heavy negative connotation in the US which the guy is now labeled as a "bad" guy even when he is just being shy and sweet. the american culture is structured in such a way that people are taught there is ONLY ONE RIGHT WAY to do certain things. Whereas in the asian cultures, we believe in more than one way to get the job done.

@tangjkd stalking is all about intentions, good or bad. now people think it's bad because people have gotten hurt of killed. I like how people fall in love in the old days. it's so sweet and innocent. and women were more respectable, not a lot of slam bam thank you ma'am going on. people were more honest too. when they say they're in love, they mean it. nowadays, there's a lot of lying and cheating. arrange marriages were more common in the orient though.
