There is just something so unique and beautiful about David Crosby's compositions... they're lovely.

Such a beautiful song. Reminds me of the good old acid days. This was certainly part of the soundtrack of many a wonderful trip. David Crosby was and will always be one of my heroes. And to hear Joni at the end is bliss itself. I am sure they were in a similar state when they gave birth to this.....

@bendbadgersteve . YOU GOT IT, you have down your homework sir, Garcia's distinctive playing shot right over to his pedal steel work. Get the'' remastered'' first NEW RIDERS ALBLUM. that was the only lp the Riders have w/Jerry,and this one has an addittional 3 live cuts that are not on the original lp.. JERRY'S PEDAL STEEL SHINES ON ''THE WEIGHT'' check it out.
Joni double-tracks and harmonizes with herself at the end. Cool. Garcia had a run of truly spacey pedal-steel work with Last Lonely Eagle (NRPS), The Wheel (Garcia), Have You Seen The Stars Tonight (Kantner) and Your Mind Has Left Your Body (Kantner, Slick, Frieberg) that was amazing.
He wasn't the best. Just the spaciest pedal-steel player out there. Awesome touch. The whole album, though, is a beautiful collection of songs by Crosby. His opus magnum.

...and may we never fail to be astonished by, and express great reverence for, Phil Lesh's truly profound bass playing...here and elsewhere :)
