UAV Prototype Animation - Designed and Animated with Google Sketchup7
The Prototype UAV is completely Autonomous but can also be run from a PC to collect data, It consists of a brushless motor design and servo driven arms with clamps. The UAV will be run by an Axon 2 Mircocontroller and will be equipped with a pan and tilt camera, GPS, Sonar, XYZ Gyros and other light weight sensors to be included later.
Parts List For UAV
4 Brushless Motors +500 gram Thrust
2 Pusher Propellers
2 Pull Propellers
4 ESC, Motor Controllers BEC etc.
1 Axon 2 Microcontroller with WiFi or Preferred Microcontroller
GPS (Used for Position Tracking Autopilot Heading/Hold)
Camera (Used to Map Terrain, Obstacle Avoidance)
Sonar (Used to Track Distance and Obstacle Avoidance)
3 Gyros XYZ - Pitch, Roll, Yaw
5 Nine Gram Servos
Strong Light Weight Building Material (Polymorph, Thin ABS Plastic etc.)
4 Tubular Carbon or Aluminum Rotor Booms (Rex Heli Booms)
Optional R/C Receiver (will only beable to control Flight) with the Axon 2 Microcontroller You Might Be able to control the arms, camera and sensors while controlling the UAV with a R/C Transmitter (Unknown without Testing I thinks it's possible with a very good transmitter)
Standard PC (Windows XP Recommended - Has the Most Knowledge and Programming Code) The PC is probable the best option to control the many aspects of this UAV and to get all the sensors working together.
To use a Microcontroller You will need to program it, Knowledge of Programming is a must, Like I said before a PC with windows XP is the best option as it has a lot of different code that you can use to write a program to control every component of the UAV, making it autonomous.
This is Very Cool, How about the programming the UAV ? how about battery for all those Servers and motors ? Do you have connection diagram ?
I would love to involve in discussion and try this out.. Let me know if you want me to be part of this project - Umesh
