one good thing to mention also is to notice the 1/2 step count pattern that repeats for majors and for minors. The 4/3 for majors and 3/4 for minors.

won't the natural Dorian D scale cound like a C major scale though?

@TheKillander It will sound much different -The root is based on a minor chord, instead of a major chord.
