I just watched the Conservative Party Election Broadcast from 1983 with real policies, passion and conviction. You cant please all the people all the time. Cameron needs to have a good rant about new labour - rip them to pieces, then tell us how its going to be under a conservative government. This wishy-washy stuff is just plain boring.

@CelticReject Nope, sorry to disappoint. This is the only election I've bothered to get into because New Labour MUST be kicked out of power, and MUST NEVER be allowed back. The internet has made it easier to expose all the politicians for what they are / believe in.

@Imanuelization Well I disagree with the Labour culture of giving people who can't be arsed to work massive free handouts while working/middle classes had to pay massive taxes.

The Conservatives have a history of dramatically lowering taxes for everyone, they are by no means the perfect party though don't get me wrong. There had to be a change after Labour messed up this country so badly for a million and one reasons, and this was a much stronger alternative to more of the same

@dickpolson Yes it's nice rhetoric... Whilst uncontrolled spending would clearly not get us out of a recession, making spending cuts clearly will not get us out of a recession either. Simply put: people lose their jobs - people have less money and therefore buy less - Businesses make less profit and therefore sack more people. It is a downward spiral that can only lead to a deeper and longer recession. The country needs controlled stimulus to reverse this spiral.

@martin15313 you cant spend your way out of a recession, and capitalism is the right answer, old fashioned Keynesian economic policies will simply lead us to high debts, high inflation and bankruptcy. were not Greece, were Great Britain.

@dickpolson or we go the capitalist conservative way and carry on cutting, and let the super rich carry on setting there own wages and remain insulated from the cuts that massively hit the poor (sorry you wouldn't use the word poor, 'work shy scroungers' would probably be the word you would understand better), until we hit recession mark 2, because the surfs can no longer afford to buy things from the wealthy. Carry on reading your daily mail and the lies it spouts. UK needs stimulus NOW!
