  • Amen. There is at least one candidate, with over 20 yrs of service in congress, I know of that hasn't accepted a dime of special interest money, nor had a lobbyist step foot in his office :-D

  • Ron Paul addressed this issue in a speech and I think solves the problem perfectly. He said, there's no need for lobbying nor campaign funding reforms because once the myriad of entitlements are STOPPED so will the motivation to support the candidate. The representative servant is there to UPHOLD the law, not pick and choose entitlements nor special interest recipients.

  • Good question . . . we need to end this and stop the presidental race from being a race for cash. All candidates should be able to play on a level field, or it is not democracy.

  • Nice. Barack Obama talked about this as it was one reason I liked him right away. He wants to end corporate gift-giving & cash awards that influence the lawmaking process.

The only problem I saw with that is that he doesn't take it far enough ...

Rather than focusing on punishments for these Lobbyists; I think it would be a better idea to punish the politicians that can be bought. We should make it a treasonable crime for our politicians to accept those gifts.
