Kristin Thomson's place, Cobble Hill, BC. 24 July, 2010. Dave Vicklund judging.
Six times we had tried to pass the HT test - one time we had been successful. Our last attempt had been in mid-June. In preparation for this run, I had spent a weekend at this facility under Kristin's training. Then I spent three weeks training twice a week at two different places with two different types of sheep and two trainers (Shelley Fritzke and Ona Steffensen).
And it worked out.
0:07 - A perfect start. Until Radar stops to smell the sheep poop. Sigh.
0:50 - Radar goes to the sheep heads too much.
1:10 - If you walk backwards, you might hit an obstacle.
1:40 - He does not do this as much as he used to, but sometimes Radar passes me and the sheep and quits herding. I think that it is a maturity/confidence/pressure/fatigue symptom, and I think it will disappear with time.
1:55 - Again with the sheep's heads!
2:10, 2:20 - A couple of nice downs.
2:30 - The take pen door opened while I was setting up to exhaust the sheep. So that caused a bit of trouble at the exhaust. More funny than troublesome.
