@almamon It's not about to substitute any part of the learning at all. It 's about to give a special help to a certain area of the karate-do, the kata (controlled series of techniques, which is actually a fight against several opponents at once).
One practices a kata alone in the beginning, in order to learn and master all the moves and their order. For a beginner like me it is good to see in action, how a seemingly unimportant technique or move can contribute to the fight with living opponent.

Not offense, but i think this is kinda silly. I mean you cant learn a whole martial art just by seeing videos, that would be a complement but not a main source of learning O.O. One needs to know in flesh what a fist feels from a experienced master, and in that way you can begin with the real training.
If someone got pissed for my opinion, feel free to insult me. After all, its not like that i am a black belt or something
