could you explain in a little more detail how you did it? I see that green component in the front and i would like to know what that does as well. Any help you could give me would really be appreciated.

Nice of you to comment, happy to help. The green component is .01uF capacitor, it's purpose is to reduce the spark inside the magnetic reed switch, connected in parallel. The sparking welds shut the contacts inside. Unfortunately, the reed switch needs frequent replacement because they burn out: this isn't a faultless design. One way to start is making an electromagnet, which is some 26 guage magnet wire wrapped arount a steel bolt. Each end, connected to a battery makes it magnetic.

does it have electric magnets?

@TheAjovalo68 Hi! There is an electric magnet (what I call electromagnet). This is the barrel shaped thing which is a coil of wire wrapped around a short roofing bolt. Thank you for your question! :o)
