Tony demonstrates the effects of lighting his face from different directions. He shows three different versions of the same drawing, illustrating the difference that lighting can make. He then does a drawing with a marker pen on thin detail paper, using a light box to illuminate the drawing from underneath (the background music here is Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag).
In "Hartbeat Handy Hints", Tony presents the second of a two-part feature on landscapes. He continues his drawing of an arched bridge over a canal at Milton Keynes, adding colour and reflections using chalks/pastels. Part one can be seen in the episode "New Zealand" ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=Cfi61SXtdHY ).
Margot makes a shadow theatre, using cardboard, dolls-house paper, tissue paper, black card, garden wire and an anglepoise lamp.
Finally, Tony uses chalks/pastels and cotton wool to make a drawing of a candlestick.
First broadcast in 1989.
