Trump and Cavuto, without shame, enjoy the idea of a "Tony Soprano moment." Their remarks reminded me of comments made by Chomsky that are, as usual, perfectly apt.

"International affairs is very much run like the Mafia. The godfather does not accept disobedience, even from a small storekeeper who doesn't pay his protection money. You have to have obedience otherwise the idea can spread that you don't have to listen to the orders and it can spread to important places."

"It should be familiar to anyone who watches television programs about the Mafia. A very large element of the structure of the Mafia is that the Don has to make sure that people understand that he's the boss. You don't cross him."

  • But he's absolutely right. If the US didn't pour billions of dollars every year to Arab dictators, they couldn't maintain their oppressive armies and their people would rise against them. As Donald said, put against the wall, they'd lower the gas prices quite damn quickly.

  • It's true that supporting oppressive regimes may result in favorable prices. But it's wrong to do for obvious other reasons.

  • yeah sure ... 30$

its now 130$ and flying.. and yes you are protecting the massivly corrupt governments so those nations cant have their resources for ther own benifit ..

but oneday they will just like Iran

  • Yeah, ok, agreed on the regimes, but what he fails to do is ask himself why they do that. They are gaining something from having the Saudis there. Obviously, it is something they are willing to live with. That is why Trump would do the same thing if he were president. This interview is worthless.

  • I constantly find myself checking Wikipedia to verify that yes, Trump actually IS a businessman.

  • can't wait for that guy to fall off the earth

  • I don't like how Trump always exclaims "Excuse me!" whenever someone interrupts him. It makes the conversation very awkward.
