I have heard many people referring to Mahmoud’s poem (My Mother) per the title, when in reality the title indirectly meant (My Country or My Palestine). Therefore the poem was a speech directed to Palestine from one of her sons (M. Darwish).

And yes, indeed you can use it as a poem directed to your mother, if you wish, and that is the beauty of Mahmoud’s imaginations, because it fits the image of the reader. Instead of reading a poem, you’ll be reading your poem.
