Pianist Alexander Seredenko conveys the lyricism and power of Rachmaninov in this performance of Études-tableaux Op. 39 No. 5 in E-flat Minor, with sweeping melodic lines and a grandiose accompaniment of triplet chords. A former student of The Royal Conservatory's Young Artists Performance Academy, Alexander currently studies at the Conservatory's Glenn Gould School. He has earned top prizes in numerous competitions, and was the first Canadian to win the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition. In his young career, he has already performed for President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
