An artistic montage detailing the various stages of creating and binding my Grimoire of Icelandic Magical Staves and Rune interpretations. I began by writing the actual content onto loose leaf paper, having planned out for one sheet of paper to host 4 pages of the book once it was folded. Six leaves of paper were folded in half and grouped into a quire, making 24 pages in one quire.

I made 6 quires which added up to 144 pages. Then the 6 quires were stitched together over 4 raised bands along the spine of the book block. The spine was compressed, glued, and dried. A day later I had it compressed again, glued strips of linen cloth onto the spine for reinforcement, and let it dry again. The following day I glued the cords of the raised bands to the insides of the book covers, compressed and let it dry. The day after that, bound and glued leather over the book boards, compressed and let it dry.

The day after it was leatherbound, I attached the brass hasp with rivets and a leather strap, and a day later, I glued in the Tyvek endpapers

  • I saw the text block but now I want to see the whole book. When do you want to come back and finish the strong box?

  • @Cadwaladr I'm available most afternoons from 4:00 PM on, and possibly Saturday, too. Though presently my current pay period happens to be amidst "bill season," but I know I'll have extra funding after the 26th of this month. In the mean time, I am willing to further the progress on the strong box, with your blessing of course.

  • As always, I am impressed with your editing and film making skills, I wish we would see your work more often here.

The book is amazing. Happy that this skill has not been lost. I still the gorgeous letter you wrote me in the fancy calligraphy.

Making it to ST this year?

  • @yoyomax12 well, this work was 5 months in the making... my creative inspirations are a bit few and far between. But when I DO create something, I try to do the best I can :)

I won't be able to go to Southtube this year.
