As for this guy, I pickpocketed his hourglass, and then I threw it in the middle of Niben Bay!

There is a mod that makes you become a lich the same way as this guy. If you remove your own hourglass (or enchant something with it) before you become a lich, you die instantly.

I just walked up to him with invisibility activated, paralyzed him, and thereby pickpocketed his Sands of Resolve. Quest over lol. he never had a chance...

that's no lich, it's from dark brotherhood quest, it's almost a lich, the hourglass made him unable to die from age

You can also just walk in without any trouble and just beat him to death. Works just as good :)
