I'll agree that Tweedy doesn't have much range, but so did Bob Dylan and so too did Neil Young. The most important part is that his voice fits the style of their music. If anything I am praising Tweedy for staying true to his vocal abilities. Many artists would try to stretch themselves and ruin the atmosphere of the song. There has been quite a lot of praises for Wilco as of late, but I'd rather people praise Wilco than Lil' Wayne, if you know what I mean.
This album YHF is superb, but I believe otherwise that Wilco is overhyped and overrated. Bit of a snoozefest. I think Tweedy's voice is one-note wonder.
The documentary was awesome, and to all the people who thought that the letting go off Wilco by the Warner Brother's wasn't a marketing ploy by WB to hype Wilco are naive.
The same company that let Wilco go into "free agency", and they knew that letting go wilco would get press, and then buying them again would get even more press.
Not saying it's right but I'm tired of hearing "oh these record execs don't know good music.", "look at the bad decision they made my letting Wilco go." etc.,
