yes i was brought up with this game in monsey, NY we played it alittle differently though. we had a level called putsies between changies and bridgies and we also had to sweep the setup thrown under your hand on bridgies.... for the comment about cuffing the catch on eliyahds, we never did that either except where catches were supposed to all be cuffed like 4th 5th or 6th chailek

I played this game as a boy in the 1950s in England. We called it Five Stones.

The game goes back 2000 years to the Romans. It was played by the people who made mosaic floors from those little square stones known as tessera.

There must be plenty of ruined Roman Villas near you in Israel. Go and visit one and "borrow" a few tessera , preferrably the white ones. Have some fun playing with the genuine articles.
