Hi all,

We are almost certain that this will be the last video offering of 2009 from the Sutherland Steam Railway. This video is our annual, traditional "Santa Special" video, documenting the trains of the same name running on the line.

Filmed=5/12/2009.

Todays timetable saw departures from Sutherland at:-
10:00, 11:30, 12:40, 13:50, 15:00, 16:20

Also, as it was Saturday, there was a 7:30pm departure from Sutherland by the "Sutherland Limited Dining Train" which, today, also consisted of our Devon Belle Observation Saloon. The saloon was providing the very popular on-train Bar and after-dinner seating area.

The locomotive roster was:-
*4-6-0 68XX No6862 "Derwent Grange" (Main Shift)
*0-6-0 Austerity No68075^^ (Main Shift)
*4-6-0 Black 5 No45156 "Ayrshire Yeomanry" (Afternoon+Evening Shift)

^^=5775 was meant to take the 2nd main shift but, due to last minute changes, 68075 took her place. This was because 5775 was being readied to go off on a 7-week Loan Visit to another railway where she is due to haul passenger services until the end of January. Meanwhile, 2 visitors have arrived at Sutherland and are filling 5775's place in the sheds.

We hope very much that you will enjoy this video and will, if you wish, comment on it and rate!

Our next video, as far as we know, will be broadcast in mid-late January 2010 and will be the much anticipated (thanks for all your suggestions!!) Winter Steam Gala 2010!

Thanks for watching everybody and, of course, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Enjoy!

  • Great layout and vid. I love the old railway lamp. I'm curious though, why did you decide not to use the shed portion of your Wills bicycle shed kit?

  • Thank you. I'm afraid its been misplaced... =)

  • Hi, Great video, is that OO and how does the track fair up to the weather?

  • Yes it is. Thanks for the comment. It fairs up quite well but requires regular cleaning for the best results.

  • Wicked mate. Looked like you had a good session. I cant wait to get back out on mine, but with it being ground level its soaking wet this time a year.

Nothing better in the summer being out there having a session on it,i sometimes have a beer while on mine lol.

    5 Stars mate

  • Thanks mate. Yh it wasn't bad. Trouble is all the filming! So much preparation, so many out takes and cut scenes lol! Too much editing! Glad you enjoyed it. I do like the Santa videos, gets us all in the Xmas mood! Next BIG session will a full day to film the Winter Gala vid in January 2010. Already have the 2 out of the 3 visiting engines on site so should be fantastic. BUT, lots more filming, cuttin and editing! lol. Cheers mate.

  • i love the railway tail-lamp

  • Thanks alot. When it rains the track is waterproof. The trains are mostly. The rain doesn't affect them. Dirty track does. They do run in the rain but need cleaning off afternoons to keep them spic and span! Thank you.

  • hi great video 5* when its rains is your engines and track are waterproof?

  • I thought that about mine. We get by by simply changing the story and locomotives from time to time. We have done many many videos as you will see. Look forward to seeing more videos of your layout on here! Best Wishes, the SSR Team.
