Our tuxedo cat, Jerry went missing today. He was gone much longer than usual.
He never misses a meal so we knew something was wrong.
After hours of exhausting neighborhood searching, up and
down hills, knocking on doors, peeking over fences, into the woods
and checking both sides of the fast street below I was ready
to go home and wait it out.
Then a murder of crows, at least 25 of them, started cawing up a storm,
high up in the treetops.
I walked back to see what they were going on about.
I looked up and didn't see anything, but the crows didn't stop their cacophony.
As I walked a little further, I suddenly saw the form of what could be
a cat, way way up near the top of an old Monterey Pine and in the crook
of a branch.
I called Charlie and told him to grab his binoculars and come up to the top of the property. When he arrived I looked up and saw Jerry. He wasn't moving.
I thought he was dead. Then Charlie took the binoculars from me and said "No, he's moving. He's OK"
Calls to the Fire Department and SPCA yielded no
results but I remembered that we recently contracted
for some tree removal and those guys can really climb.
Figured it was worth a shot.
Tom Nonella showed up with his climbing apparatus,
gloves and giant backpack. We provided the bag.
Watch and see what happened.
