Daylight walkthrough of Jon & Willy's Motel of Terror 2008 haunt. For this party, we built a 3-cabin motel set, complete with office. Then we filled it with both static and moving props of deformed children and adults. The backstory concerned the old Regatta Motel that ran in the 1940's and 1950's then was shut down after the original owners died and their disfigured children fought over the place. The children disappeared and the place was reopened in the late 1950's. But the Regatta children still live inside the walls of the motel, ready to kill anyone who dares to enter their home. Planning began in March 2008. Construction began in July, taking 3 months to build. The party was one night only and the set was torn down within a few days after the party. Whew! Thanks to everyone who came out and had a frightfully delightful time at the Motel of Terror!

  • how did you make the hanging people.

  • The hanging people are PVC pipe and wire frame underneath cotton batting material and thrift store clothes. They were very light. Didn't make faces, hands, or feet. Faces are covered with dirty rags. Hands tied behind back. Feet are just stuffed socks. Was going to have one of them jerk, but ran out of time.

  • No live actors most of the time. However, we did have the one area (pointed out in the video) next the bathroom where we could pop out through the hanging towels and scare people if we wanted to. Just didn't do it too often because we were running around hosting the party.

  • The mirror comment was an aside to the fact that I caught myself reflected in it while walking through. It was an ordinary mirror. If anybody actually was scared by their reflection in it then maybe I spent too much on everything else. Note to self... future theme: room of mirrors.

  • Thanks for all the comments! It cost a lot less than I expected to build the motel set itself. We borrowed a friend's scaffolding for the main structure to build 4x8 OSB panels onto. Also, the whole thing was sandwiched between existing structures which helped hold it up :) Most of the mechanisms and props can were saved and can be modified for use year after year. This year we're doing a completely different show, inside a house again.

  • @YourGuardianWolf dude he ment wenever he made a face bro XD good haunted house tho how much did it cost

  • Wow! Very impressed! Fantastic back-story!

  • is there live actors

  • @YourGuardianWolf It's probably a one-way mirror with something really scary behind it. When you walk up to it, the lights inside it turn on, reavealing the face.

  • how is a mirror the scariest prop???
