Wow! You made it sooo easy to understand! I was trying to watch expertvillage on reading patterns and it was just on going without much information. Thank you sooo much!! Quick question. What would be the best way to measure for a size that isn't listed on the pattern? My mother used to do this all the time but I'm not sure how she did it =/

@iMahnoor I'm so glad this helped you -- and here I was just thinking today "I should really redo that video!" With regard to sizing, all you do is have a look in the pattern catalogs. They have a section that completely explains sizing and how to measure. You can also go online to the pattern company websites and just click on "size charts" and that should tell you how to measure and find a size. Simplicity has "classroom" on its home page that offers fit help.

thank you :) That really helps. Though I do have a question, what would you suggest would be a good pattern for a beginner? Should I start with a shirt or a skirt or something else? Do you know of a specific pattern that would be a good one to start on?

@bloodykisses56 Hi there! Good question on the pattern -- there are a lot that say "easy," so I'd have to say one of those might be good. You need something with only a couple of pattern pieces. A t-shirt is a good start, or a peasant top. Even a pair of pajama pants with an elastic waist, or a simple skirt with an elastic waist is a good beginning project. All of the pattern companies have "easy to sew" patterns that really are just that -- easy to sew.
