Gergoth was originally planned to bust out of the condemned tower (which was then located where the Demon Guest House tower portion is now) and chase you around the Village. Obviously, things got majorly changed.

You know, it would have been a hella lot easier to fight him out in the open like that instead of in a tiny room where he doesn't even give you enough space to stand half of the time.
