ah, its a couple of techniques. The first stomp is a blendshape. The steps when walking is a dynamic system on a strip of geometry, and the mech wears invisible shoes to move the geom - too involved to describe here :)

well, the intention was to create a short series and introduce the mech pilot, but you know how it is, you get involved in new projects and time slips by...

no this was just a personal project a couple of years ago. Everything had to be created for the anim.
