now if the gene says that they are more likely to kill themselves... it would only make sense that through evolution, they would eventually all die off, so why does the gene still exist?

@bashie34 Wait so you think there weren't such things as concentration camps or gas chambers? Where did you go to school...

@holyhelo5speak As well as this, we allow people with these "Defects" To reproduce, reintegrating it back into our population. Where as with most other animals they will simply avoid mating with another that has these problems and it would simply be taken out of their population when those who have the issue die out.

@holyhelo5speak We allow people with these problems to reproduce and live instead of letting them deal with it on their own , especially in situations where these "Disabilities" Would cause them to die without our assistance. So, Instead of survival of the fittest like it would be in "Nature", It is "Survival of anyone and everyone we can save." meaning these genes get passed on instead of dying out like they would in "Nature". Im not saying its bad, Im just saying it happens.

who was in concetration camps? There was no such thing. next thing you will say there were gas champers lmao. Name one person who died in gas champer just one in history lmao. Kangaroo courts is what they are hiding behind. Enough bs I hope you have the gene lmao kill yourself .

I got the same gene ,I end up doing bad things to my friends moms . I am getting help and hope to one day beat this disease lmao

I hope this guy has the gene.

@holyhelo5speak 1."eventually" maybe hasn't come yet.
2. They may be more likely to kill themselves, but that doesn't necessarily affect their reproduction, so they can still pass on their genes.
In the case of animals other than humans, they may not live long enough to reproduce, but in humans, they may reproduce before they die (suicide in this case).
-
@holyhelo5speak Because evolution is wrong.

@holyhelo5speak 1 person has the gene and has 3 kids. out of the 3 kids only 1 of them is effected enough to actually commit suicide. 2 kids live and have kids. The gene doesn't make them kill themselves, just adds to the probability which suicide is already extremely low. And in todays world, there's so much therapy and anti-depression pills its really hard to get away with suicide these days.
I recently read about a gene that in its shorter form, causes its carriers to be more prone to depression. This shorter allele is found in 80% of East Asians, such as Chinese and Japanese, societies twice as likely to be collectiveistic. Just a bit of info I found interesting :)

@isellasign yup, that's the SLC6A4 gene I think, it hasn't been found to be related to this one, but it's true that if you have the short version of that gene you'll be less efficient at regulating the levels of certain neurotransmitters, and you'll be more susceptible to depression and shtuff.
