All American hardware manufacturers so proudly state on their boxes "Japanese capacitors!" lol

@norb8 Before you remove the psu, press the power button on the pc (make sure it's turned off at the wall). That's supposed to drain all the power away.

So if a capacitor explodes or leaks, does this put components at risk? Whats the chances? I hav a CIT 500 w PSU with 27 amps 12+v dual railing and 30amps 5 v railing..

Another way to know if your caps are Japanese: recognize the brands and their logos.
Matsushita, a.k.a. Panasonic
Rubycon
Nichicon
Nippon Industries
Nippon Chemi-con
Elna
Sanyo
And, buying your computer parts from reputable companies isn't always a guarantee that the product you'll buy from them will have Japanese capacitors.
About the only non-Japanese capacitor manufacturer I'd trust would be Jamicon as they use electrolyte sourced from a Japanese manufacturer.

Caution: Only open PSU if you are qualified to do so.

Rodney maybe you should refrain from telling people from opening power supplies since I'm sure you know that a PSU still has enough power in it after its turned off and unplugged to kill a man.
