How To Use Facebook Chat Without Being On Facebook

I tried it and it did not work for me. I am using Firefox 3.5.2.

you know what, you're right...i haven't used it since upgrading to 3.5.2. for me, if i click the link it opens the chat in a full sized window rather than a sidebar. if i open a blank tab then click it it opens the sidebar, but resizes my entire browser window. annoying...
