Apparently Anne Elk (Miss) was based on Graham's partner David Sherlock, because he usually talked in a roundabout way that often amused the other Pythons. Might have something to do with why Graham was cracking up :)

Me and my dad quote this all the time, and one day out at dinner, he says to me, "Do you remember the lady's name, the one that gives the theory?" I say, "No," And he says, "Anne Elk." I was laughing so hard I was crying for at least five minutes. Ohh man.
