Too right. After all, we could at least join up with the Brotherhood on the original. Then in the sequel, Fallout 2, we could join a New Reno mob family, Vault City, the Slavers in The Den, we could become the sheriff's deputy in Redding, could join the Hubologists in San Francisco, those scientologists with a space shuttle... hell, we could even join the NCR Rangers back then already - or maybe just become associated? I forget. We get a badge, at least.

@Banzay27 Maybe I would of not gotten so bored with it if we could actually have joined a faction, hence we were not born in the vault like in FO3. I would think in NV you could join one, because really, what else can you do in the wastelands? You're doing the work for whichever faction we choose, so they should have been joinable, but...that's up to Bethesda to hopefully change one day. IDK, just my feelings. lol.

It really is. Or ins't, depending on what you think I'm referring to. Either way, that it's a game is not a reason not to argue details and, on that note, it's silly to separate "real life" from games. What is real life then? I play games in my real life, not in my dreams, or whatever an 'unreal' life would be. Don't take this too literally, though.

But I'll admit what maybe compelled me to comment on your phrasing was my vain wish that we could, indeed, join factions.

@hihihahaqq Not that a dozen other people haven't already replied to you, but not only is there a 10mm, there's also the 9mm and the neat 12mm, the successor to one loud pistol from the classic Fallouts. You find one, just don't put a silencer on it, ruins the feel.

Also, wha'choo talkin bout, Willis? The 10mm pistol ain't ugly. The 10mm SMG, on the other hand... sigh, and it was one of my fav guns in the old games, too.

@Bllackguard666 Lol, you play an NCR Ranger... You mean you wear a Ranger outfit.

We can align with factions but never truly become one of them, much less a Ranger, even less so a Veteran Ranger.

But anyhow, there is of course a legit and early (earlier than killing one toward the end of the game) way of obtaining the outfit: when you're loyal enough to get the key to their safehouse, there'll be at least one NCR Ranger Combat Armor there.

@fullmetalevil5 NCR Ranger. Only obtainable by A: being evil and killing a ranger (GL with that), or B: know the item code and add it to your char. I play an NCR Ranger with the Anti-Material Rifle and love it.

@liverpoolfan800x NCR Ranger, you have to add the armor via the console: player.additem xx000ade 1 for example. The xx is your mod index order. IF you wear a faction armor, you will be disguised as a member, so be careful. Enemies of that faction will think you are one of the faction, too.
