LARKIN'S VICTORY and LARKIN HIGH SCHOOL FIGHT SONG, 2/19/2010. Also "Nobody's Perfect," and drumline cadence played in the aftermath of Larkin's one-point victory over South Elgin. Principal: Jon Tuin; Athletic Director: John Young. Coach: Deryn Carter; Asst. Coach: Steve Knapp; Band Director: Pat Henning. This was not a victory to be celebrated over South Elgin High. With South Elgin High, we share a common lineage -- a common heritage. South Elgin's team played well, and its fans were spirited and well-behaved. So this was a hard-fought basketball game to be celebrated by both teams, and both schools, win or lose. NO -- this instead was a VICTORY over all of the forces, inside and outside of our school who want us to fail... This was the many good people of our school, LED BY STUDENTS LOYAL TO THEIR COACHES, rising up together, to say: "WE will no longer accept institutionalized mediocrity! WE will not be held back or intimidated by the petty or the vindictive! WE will not be defeated by apathy, or the self-interest and politics of bureaucrats! For as long as we work hard, with honor, striving always for excellence, all it takes is for those good people TO STAND UP AND SAY: 'WE ARE LARKIN!!!'"
