Robert Holmes - Parker Wheelers Blues Party -07-20-08

A wonderful line up of musicians this evening who's collective resume reads like The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a nod to the U.K.
Guitarist Robert Holmes is best remembered for his work with Aimee Mann in "Til Tuesday" and the all too short lived "Ultra Blue".
Keyboard player and Grammy Award winner John Colby hits the stage after a late night flight from the left coast where he did his musical director thing for this evenings 9 pm presentation of the ESPYS. "Mohegan Sun All Star" saxophonist Deric Dyer has graced the stage with Tina Turner & Joe Cocker. Bass player David Hull career spans gigs with Buddy Miles, Peter Droge, James Montgomery and Aerosmith. Drummer Dave Mattacks career began with "Fairport Convention" and includes 5 CD's with Paul McCartney and recording/performances with George Harrison, Elton John, Jimmy Page, Jetro Tull, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Joan Armatrading and many others. All Blues Party videos are shot with a single Canon Hf100 camera, and edited in Sony Vegas. This shoot used an external mic, and was filmed in 24p. Great to hear Robert performing "Strange Brew" again. I miss the Ultra Blue days at Club 3 in Somerville. It's also great to see David Hull on bass - I remember seeing Ultra Blue at Necco Place and then going next door to the Channel to see Farrenheit. =)

used to see Robert Holmes in a band called Ultra Blue in Boston....the dude could really play a hard, bluesy kinda guitar. I have looked for some of their songs on iTunes, but have been unable to find them.
