And now let's move to news from Israel. About one hundred children have tasted the spirit of the ancient Greek Olympic-style games in a Children's peace festival, held in Israel. Let's have a look.
STORY:
The Archaeological Museum in Bet She'an Valley called "Footsteps in the Valley" has devoted one of the galleries entirely to the ancient Greek art.
The museum has accommodated fifth grade children from various schools in Israel. The main purpose of this event was to learn the history of the ancient Greek empire... and especially about the ancient Olympic spirit based on the principles of peace, tolerance and human dignity.
[Dror Segel, Manager, Archaeological Museum]:
"We can see also in the pictures here that Olympic games all of in the world can be for peace and for tolerance and always we talk about the history of war so here we can teach the history of peace not only war."

For three days the children revived the atmosphere of Tolerance, Serenity and Peace in the garden surrounding the museum's premises. The first two days were dedicated for preparations and training while the third day was reserved for the "Olympics."
The children competed in various Greek style sport fields such as throwing stick, wrestling, running and throwing discus. But the real awards were not the medals.
[Mother of Competitor, Bet She'an Valley, Israel]:
"True sport, not too much interpersonal competition, good group spirit, encouragement, honesty, all sorts of things that have somewhat disappeared from sports."
[Amin, Archaeological Museum]:
"What was actually at that time the idea is to stop the fighting, stop the war and to give the people the opportunity to meet and maybe after this event they could solve the problems between each other."
The Olympic Games goal was originally to bring nations closer together, to have the people of the world compete in sports, rather than fight in war.
