  • Non-purists, and those who listen to music for pleasure, find Lang Lang very good.

From the scathing, hateful comments, I gather that purists and other seriously uptight people despise him.

  • Speak for yourself, I like Lang Lang and I don't have a health - mental or physical - problem like you.

  • Rach appeared to be more self-conscious about playing his music, especially the concertos, than others'. I find him hurrying through the concertos, especially the Third at breakneck speeds, where in the Chopin Sonata he is pitch-perfect in everything. No finer rendition of it exists, including Horowitz's.

  • @lurgidbee Well, it's a mixed picture for "purists". Often Lang Lang doesn't seem to respect the music - I saw him play Rachmaninoff's piano concerto no#3, and he entered the orchestra at half their speed. That's just disrespectful to the other musicians at that point. He has a very liberal approach to the music, which doesn't seem malicious - it's just that he's indulging himself at all costs. Which leaves us torn, because that's what to love about his playing - how joyful and espressive it is.

  • @EdiEllerymissing Learn how to write and spell before calling others idiotic.

  • @lurgidbee Being a purist doesn't make you uptight. I consider myself somewhat of a purist, listen to music for pleasure, and sincerely dislike Lang Lang.

  • Rachmaninoff was more soft, but not as passionately as the pianists that plays the same piece today.

  • Lol. I really hate what Lang Lang represents for music and art, but I agree with you XD... it's bad for our health to stop by his videos and waste our time and billis in his nonsenses and stupid talk.

  • Lang Lang is a great admirer of Rachmaninov and talk about him. Just like you talk about you favorate teacher. What's wrong with that? Why all these hatelul reponses?

Do yourself a favor. If you hate him so much, don't come to any Lang Lang postings at all. It is bad for your health.

  • Also, music isn't about exactness, it is about expression, beautify and emotions; no two pieces when played sound the same nor are they meant to. They're a unique snap shot of the performers life where his emotions come through in the piece being played.
