To my understanding...The only effective method of horse euthanasia is with a bullet. A lethal injection is not viable in an animal so large. The numbers of unwanted horses needs, bred by irresponsible owners for weight value needs to be reduced!!

At least horses are given the compassion of slaughter in the uk, where conditions of slaughter are still above most EU requirements. What about poor calves that are transported abroad because we banned veal crates. We import the meat!!

My issue with this is horses that are ending up in this slaughter facility are quite able young horses, sold of because owners most of the time cannot be bothered...to find them new homes, there have also be reports of horses being stolen for slaughter from yards over the country, if over breeding stopped then this wouldnt need to happen if not as much.

Are you saying this is OK? It's not... When I got my horse Gracie, she was on her way to death! No one appreciates the sickening way to harm one of god's greatest creatures! They helped us in a time of need! I adore horses and if you think this is humane you are wrong in the head! How can you sleep at night knowing you support this awful and unright crime? Oh yeah... and there are injections for horses! People like you don't deserve to know these wonderful creatures!

A lethal injection is completely viable.

I have worked in a slaugter house and believe me, procedures are rarely ever carried out correctly.

Meat inspectors and a vet are always meant to be present, 99% of the time, they are not.

This isn't just the case in the place I worked at (In the UK) but also through the majority of slaughter houses in Britain.

as with so much cruelty to non -human animals -profit and greed are the causes of most of it-having watched quite a few of these kinds of videos on You tube recently i truly wonder about the mental state of the people who work in these places -they must become so desensitised to suffering .

Lethal injection is ok for a large horse too, however the cost of having a horse put to sleep in this way is around £400. The injection renders the meat useless, and the horse has to then be cremated.
