$500 is a lot to spend on a radar detector but If it saves me from one speeding ticket it is paid off.. Do I want to spend $500 now and have ease of mind or later and have high insurance rates.. Hmm... I purchased one today. :)

I Think your redline need to recalebration, why? most of the time its detected signal about 15-20 seconds, that is not right, my is way longer detection then your, most of the time my went of about 45 seconds to 60 seconds to target...

the first 30 seconds was all i needed to convince me to buy it

Not sure what would be worse, doing the speed limit or having to listen to that thing all the way to Vegas. But that sound is annoying.

a highway to hell :)) lol they are ripping people off here !!!

You have to understand too if they're running laser (unless you have a jammer) or instant-on, no radar detector will save you. If you're out in the open by yourself with no rabbit in front of you, drive SMART. Just because you have a RD doesn't mean you can speed 20mph+ and not get caught. That's not what RD's are for.

@MrMaskedGuitarist Detection range depends on a lot of factors. Many of these were not direct LOS and were backscatter from a pulled over car, blocked by heavy traffic, etc. He had plenty of time to slow down in every case.
@sniper4usmc I am waiting for the UPS guy to drop off my redline. I did my homework and decided it was the best model for me. My reasons: I don't get annoyed by false alarms (I must be a freak). 2nd. I need extreme range because I drive on a Texas highway which has PSL of 70 on very hilly roads, the further I can get a detection while on the crest of a hill the more prepared I am down the road. I have one question though. What is "ramp-up"? And how do I fix it if it happens?

@smith0790 Ramp up is When you encounter radar,Radar Detector audible alert will sound and occur faster
as the signal gets stronger. This allows you
to judge the distance from the signal
source without taking your eyes from the
road.

i got 9500ix last week and got a speeding ticket 4days later @85mph on a open california freeway on saturday morning with clear sunny weather with the detector properly mounted. I received 0 warnings (high way setting, POP on, and speed alert off for better detection response). Disappointed!! Returned it today on amazon.com and placed order for redline >:(
