Emergency Manager Success Stories in Michigan

Upon his election in 2011, Governor Rick Snyder set out to improve the process of state intervention in local government financial emergencies , to ensure that they could be addressed quickly, efficiently, and with the potential for long-term success. Public Act 4 of 2011 was signed into law in March of 2011 and provided the state with the necessary tools to ensure the protection of each citizen's health, safety, and welfare. While PA 4, and its predecessor Acts, have been criticized at times, it is important to recognize positive changes Emergency Managers have made in addressing local government financial emergencies.
