@TtopMusic The name of the movie is "Heaven's Door". DVD might be hard to find outside of Japan... try an online shop like cdjapan.co.jp or yesasia.com.

@xsanctom continued from previous post... I believe, in visiting this place, presumably where he grew up, he is overcome by memories of his childhood and his family, and perhaps ashamed for having left his family and/or not succeeding on his own, and realizes that he doesn't want to die - i.e. he hasn't had the chance to make them proud yet.

@xsanctom I can try to add some context. Masato (male) and Harumi (female) are terminally ill. Early in the film they meet in a hospital and decide to go on a road trip to the ocean (Harumi never having seen the ocean). Early on it's also established that Masato has not seen or spoken to his mother since he left home some years ago. In this scene I believe the viewer is to infer that they've taken a detour to visit Masato's mother.
