Time-lapse charcoal portrait of Gibbs (Mark Harmon).
Perhaps I could have worked on this drawing a bit more, but truth of the matter is, I've only recently started drawing with charcoal. It's still a rather clumsy medium for me and smudging isn't something I usually do. Hopefully I will improve over time. But I guess that's where the fun is. Practice, practice, practice.
Materials used:
Black charcoal pencils (light, medium, and dark)
Kneaded rubber eraser
Art gum eraser
Paper stumps
Cotton swab
Now for future projects, I think I will go with slightly larger drawings. It'll allow for more detail I think. Anyway, that's it for now.

@Evolutionofhell I used 3 black charcoal pencils: light, medium, and dark. The brand is Derwent :-)

You are very talented! I like how you start in the middle with the eyes. That is how i start and that is what my high school art teacher told me NOT to do. I still do it anyway. I never took any classes except high school other than that i am self taught/natural. Did you take formal art classes?

@TheBrodiedog Thanks! Aside from high school art classes in grades 9 through 12, I didn't take any formal classes. Sometimes I use the method my art teacher taught me. But at other times, I go back to the method I used before high school (starting with the eyes that is).
