REM you were absolutely brilliant.
Not even this new greatest hits can truly show you (plus it's got no 'Near Wild Heaven' one of your best songs)

No chance.

It's all just art, you don't have to like it, you don't have to hate it. Myself, I love it. Been a fan for nearly all of the 31 years. Too many gems to list, but Shaking Through, Wendell Gee, King of Birds, Untitled (from Green), Half a World Away, Find the River, Crush with Eyeliner, Why Not Smile, I'll Take the Rain, and It Happened Today. Not a hit single among them for REM, but that's a Greatest Hits record for most any other band. I think Nightswimming will be played at my funeral.

Bye Bye REM !

One of most over rated american band ever in my opinion.
-
I saw them only once, at the Hollywood Bowl in '07, but I had been a fan since Document. After Green they only seemed to tour on every other album so it was hard to see them. They leave a great body of work to go back and listen to and enjoy for a lifetime. Still, I can't wait for the reunion tour.

Saw them play a local club in 1982 in front of about 80 people. They were unknown and everyone was blown away by their energy. It was fun watching them evolve into a national act and never really lose their integrity. You will be missed guys. Look forward to the reunion concert in a few years.
