  • does this have a 17' screen

  • Yes it does. The common screen sizes are divided by the different dv models

    dv2000: 14.1"

    dv6000: 15.4"

    dv9000: 17"

  • dude i got the dv9500 and it had the black screen it sucks ass , u know how i can change the motherboard on a laptop??

  • I've provided links in the info pane to the Maitenance & Service Guide mentioned in the video. I've also provided a link to HP's Media Library where you can find videos and other information/tools with removing/reinstalling hardware components. Hope that helps you.

  • I got one of these in 2007 and was the worst purchase of my life. The motherboard failed and HP had to replace it 3 times in the first year. I have a decent laptop now and only use it in emergencies, but after an hour of use the trackpad and keyboard get so warm it physically burns your finger! It is a complete joke, I will never but another HP product again.

  • @RoboTekno Yup. Just happened to me and a friend.

  • GFX Port broke on mine, as for over heating get lap fans pad, cools it down a treat!!

£90 for a new mother board and £60 to fix it not to bad

  • the reason that happened caz the fan need to keep clean from dust......i have one and i never find it heat up to quickly

  • This is one of the worst PCs ever, why? cause when you keep the Laptop for like half a year or so the sound drive gets some static or it just gets muted without anyone setting it

  • my laptop looks exactly like this but it is has different specs and better screen res

  • This laptop sux. trust me! it's heats up quick and kills it's slelf!!

  • lame they cant even build in a stupid IR reciever the tuner is understandable

  • Worst computer ever (period).

  • The black screen/ no video problem is very common among hp pavilion laptops. You don't necessarily have to replace the motherboard.

The problem is the way the Nvidia video chip is attaches to the motherboard. There is a fairly easy fix, find more details at squidoo.com/hp-laptop-black-screen
