"Will the Circle Be Unbroken" is attributed as Traditional on the album. It is actually an arrangement of arrangements of three not-so-distinct songs. The songs have been merged in such a way that the lyrics and melodies and harmonies make it difficult to find where one song ends and the next begins, so I will list them in order of lyrical appearance.
"Daddy Sang Bass" was written in 1968 by Carl Perkins and recorded by Johnny Cash.
"Will the Circle Be Unbroken" was written by Ada R. Habershon and Charles H. Gabriel and appears in hymnals as early as 1908.
"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" is a spiritual written by Wallis Willis before 1862 and transcribed by Alexander Reid who sent it to the Jubilee Singers of Fisk University who later recorded it in 1909.
