WDIV served at least two very important purposes. For one thing, it was the representative NBC affiliate for about a couple million cable TV and satellite-dish customers across Canada. When they watched "Nightly News", "Today" or Tigers baseball it was by way of WDIV. Second, NBC News counted on their more than 200 affiliates for news footage of stories from locales other than New York, Washington, Los Angeles or Chicago. It's part of being associated with a broadcast network.

@SG1Mitchell Electronic Television as we know it was 'invented' in 1927 by Philo T. Farnsworth

Was he always that laid back? He sounds like he's stoned or something. Long pauses etc.

had no choice but to join the union, not in it anymore.
people like to get some public credit for their work but management there wants to marginalize talented people...
-
Who gives a shit, other than fucking union fucktards?

Yeah, only because NBC jacked some "tape" from that joke of a station formerly known as WDIV. Do you really fucking expect NBC to rhyme off every fucking affiliate at the end of the news? Do you honestly think viewers give a shit if the little NBC station in Buttfuck Montana gets its name on the credits? Yeah fucking right.
